The NWMB Studies Fund provides financial assistance
to non-government organizations to carry out research. Up to $30,000
is available to individual projects in a single year.
Since 1997, more than $400,000 has been awarded
under this program. In 2000, the NWMB provided funding for studies
on:
- muskoxen and caribou near Resolute Bay
- bowhead whales near Clyde River
- snow and Ross' geese near Arviat
- eider ducks near Sanikiluaq
- arctic char near Resolute Bay
- the removal of chip rock from an arctic char stream near Clyde
River
- a polar bear survey near Grise Fiord

management priorities. Reports from regional workshops will be available
soon and these will help both government departments and non-government
organizations plan their wildlife research activities in Nunavut.
