Introduction
The purpose of Special Meeting No. 12 of the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board (NWMB) is to publicly consider the draft Total Allowable Harvests and Non-Quota Limitations contained in the Government of Nunavut’s proposed Wildlife Regulations and Orders, made pursuant to the Wildlife Act.
Following the first two sessions of Special Meeting No. 12 - held from September 25th to 28th 2006 and October 22nd to 25th 2006 - the NWMB decided to hold a further session (Session C) in 2007, to address outstanding issues.
In a letter dated November 20th 2006, the NWMB invited the main participants at the first two sessions of the meeting – the Government of Nunavut (GN), Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) and the three Regional Wildlife Organizations (RWOs) – to file with the NWMB:
- By no later than 5:00 PM on December 18th 2006, written submissions concerning outstanding issues; and
- By no later than 5:00 PM on January 29th 2007, written responses to any materials filed with the NWMB as of December 18th 2006.
In two letters dated January 19th 2007, the NWMB invited the GN, NTI and the RWOs, as well as the Resolute Bay Hunters and Trappers Association and the Iviq Hunters and Trappers Organization, to file with the NWMB:
- By no later than 5:00 PM on February 23rd 2007, written submissions concerning the harvesting of Queen Elizabeth Islands Peary Caribou; and
- By no later than 5:00 PM on March 23rd 2007, written responses to any materials filed with the NWMB as of February 23rd 2007.
