Jorgen Bolt Memorial Award
The Nunavut Wildlife Management Board (NWMB) initiated the Jorgen Bolt Memorial Award in 2021 to recognize Jorgen's contributions to wildlife management in Nunavut. Jorgen was appointed to the Board by the Government of Nunavut-Department of Environment in 2017. During his time with the Board, Jorgen served with dedication and earnestness to ensure that future generations will be able to experience the land as he did.
The annual $10,000 award is split between two (2) successful applicants ($5,000 each) and is designed to assist students from Nunavut in obtaining an education in wildlife, wildlife management or the application of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit in wildlife management, which will then be applied to future work in Nunavut.
The deadline for submissions is Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Criteria for Eligibility:
1. Applicant must be entering or continuing with post-secondary education that goes towards a degree, diploma or certificate in wildlife, wildlife management or the application of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit in wildlife management in Nunavut.
2. Applicant must currently be a resident of Nunavut and have resided in the territory for at least the past two (2) years.
3. The applicant must demonstrate a minimum academic achievement of 65% overall academic record.

NWMB Wildlife Conservation Education Program
The NWMB’s main purpose for the establishment of a Wildlife Conservation Education Program is to establish an in-house program to undertake initiatives that are of direct interest to the NWMB to assist the Board in carrying out its wildlife management roles and responsibilities as per the Nunavut Agreement.
Conservation Education initiatives will be:
- Restricted to projects and initiatives that are developed and led by the NWMB;
- Focused on conservation initiatives related to the NWMB’s wildlife management functions;
- Conducted in a manner that involves Inuit and co-management partners in its development and application; and
- Administered in the most cost- and time-efficient manner.
For the fiscal year 2014-2015, the NWMB will pursue the following initiatives for its Conservation Education Program:
- Biweekly Wildlife Trivia Contest on the NWMB website;
- Activity Book
- All-Terrain Vehicles Impacts and Mitigation Poster
- Science and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Wildlife Facts Playing Cards
